The Medical Committee gives its opinion on the medical, ethical and functional services offered by ADO, and also participates in specialist and expert committees to give medical advice on certain matters.
Dr. Shantanu Rahman
Medical Director, India & United Kingdom
Dr. Shantanu Rahman is an alumni of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and holds a MBBS degree from the University of Calcutta, India. Dr. Rahman’s career spans over two decades, spent mostly in clinical medicine in diverse trans-cultural settings in India and UK. He completed his GP training in various branches of hospital medicine and general practice in the UK to qualify as a General Practitioner (GP). Subsequently, he practised with the National Health Service (NHS), UK as a GP Principal and Managing Partner of a NHS-GP Partnership and gained wide therapeutic experience. Due to his excellent administrative and managerial skills as a GP Principal, he was elected as a ‘Board Member of the Professional Executive Committee’ (PEC) of Bracknell Forest Primary Care NHS Trust in UK. During his tenure as a Board Member of the PEC, he initiated, implemented and coordinated the execution of various policies for the Dept. of Health (UK) for Bracknell District covering a population of around 112,000.
In his last role, Dr. Rahman was the Co-Founder, Board Member, Chief Medical Officer & Head of Operations of NationWide Primary Healthcare Services Pvt. Ltd. He led the Medical and Operations Division of the whole organization, conceptualized a complete Medical Assessment Centre for quality recruitment of right, skill-mapped medical and nursing resources, and strategically built the Medical Education & Training Division in creating and running the in-house GP education curriculum and training program.
Dr. Lincoln Monsoh
Medical Director – France
Dr. Lincoln Monsoh has been the Medical Director of Activ Doctors Online since its inception in 2008. He is the guarantor of respect for medical ethics in society. Dr. Monsoh is involved in the implementation of the various medical processes and validates the files. He also participates in the creation and the proper functioning of the network of doctors.
Dr. Howard Zahalsky
Medical Director – USA
Dr. Zahalsky is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician from Arlington, Virginia who has been in private practice for over thirteen years. He received his M.D. from the Ivy League Brown University Medical School, where he graduated with high honors. He completed his residency training at the renowned Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Zahalsky has a very diverse medical practice. He has a special interest in geriatrics and serves as Medical Advisor for the Emeritus Assisted Living community. He also serves as a Medical Director for Heartland Hospice. Dr. Zahalsky is widely respected in the Washington DC metropolitan area and holds multiple university teaching appointments, including Clinical Assistant Professor at Georgetown University. He has trained medical residents, medical students, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. He holds privileges at Virginia Hospital Center, where he has served as Chairman of the Department of Primary Care. He currently serves on the hospital’s information technology committee as a “Physician Champion.”
Dr. Zahalsky has been married to his wife Michelle for sixteen years, and they have three children – ages 11, 9, and 6. He is very active in the local PTA and has coached his youngest son’s T-ball team. Dr. Zahalsky is very excited to be a part of the Activ Doctors team. He has been part of the board since the launch in October of 2010.
Dr. Annaik Feve,
Dr. Annaik Feve is a neurologist, Doctor of Science (Neuroscience). She has set up a care unit and rehabilitation SSR for Parkinson’s disease at the hospital, Leopold Bellan (2011-2015), a private multidisciplinary neuro-ENT consultation (1998-2014) and several consultations on anomalous movement disorders, in hospitals of the AP-HP. She was assistant clinical director at Tenon hospital and has participated since 2014 in the outpatient care for botulinum toxin injections at the Clinique Geoffroy Saint Hilaire. Dr.Annaik set up the outpatient research projects as part of Parkinson’s disease, movement disorders, sleep disorders. She is a member of the Paris Psychoanalytic Society since 2004 and Director of the Association Neuro Philoctetes. She is the representative of the IPA (International Psychoanalytic Association) to the United Nations since 2014 and also participates as a member of CAPA China (supervision of psychologists in China). She participates in the creation and the proper functioning of the network of doctors.
Professor François Durand
Chief of Hepatology
Professor Durand heads Hepatology at Beaujon Hospital – which is an internationally recognized referral centre in the discipline. He is the Medical Director of the liver transplant program at Beaujon Hospital and supports transplant candidates and patients. He is also Professor of Hepatology at the University Paris VII Diderot and INSERM team affiliated with the research centre, Bichat-Beaujon CRB3. Professor Durand is particularly involved in the management of acute liver failure and terminal liver disease associated with organ failure, he has conducted research in areas related to acute liver failure (mechanisms, management and transplantation), with organ failure in cirrhosis, the management of hepatocellular carcinoma prior to transplantation, optimizing the allocation of donor liver transplantation for the treatment of viral hepatitis before and after transplantation and optimization of immunosuppressive therapy in the prevention of graft rejection. This work has led to over 200 publications in top international journals dedicated to liver disease and transplantation.
Professor Olivier Cussenot
Professor Cussenot is a full professor at the Paris-VI University and is an elected member of the InstitutUniversitaire de France. He is also a consultant surgeon, fully qualified in general surgery. Professor Cussenot specialises in the treatment of urological cancers and in renal transplantations. He is also the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the National Association of Sick patients of Prostate Cancer.
Professor Jacques Azorin
MD – MSc
A professor at Paris XIII University, Dr. Jacques is also the Head of Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at Avicenne Hospital in Bobigny. After having been accepted to a hospital internship in Paris in 1974, he spent two years as a resident at the Heart Institute of Montreal, Canada where his research focused on the study of critical and significant coronary artery stenosis. During the second year of his residency he dedicated himself to interventional cardiology. In France he trained as a resident in cardiac, visceral, and oncological surgery before deciding to specialize in thoracic and vascular surgery. Appointed as department head in 1991, Dr. Azorin developed a technique of videothoracoscopy with pulmonary VATS lobectomy. Currently, he leads a team whose research on tracheal surgery is internationally recognized. He teaches at the Faculty of Paris XIII. He has been summoned as an expert witness at the Court of Appeal in Paris, the Administrative Tribunal, and a National Expert at the Cour de Cassation. He is the general secretary of the French Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Society and a member of the Vascular Surgery Society and the Respiratory Disease Society. He coordinates a board of Professors of Medicine and Surgery and medical doctors in different fields of medicine to provide professional support to patients and practitioners. Dr. Grossmann is an avid blogger & Healthcare social media user. He is one of the few Google Glass Explorers in the world, and was the first Doctor to ever use Google Glass during live surgery and in Medical Ed. Rafael was also a TEDx speaker at TEDx Dirigo 2011, TEDx Bermuda 2013 and TEDx Dirigo 2013. He is an international speaker, including the MedicineX conference in Stanford, CA 2013, in Amsterdam, Holland, in October 2013, as well as Hungary, Seoul and Paris.
Practicing in a rural area like Maine, and being a telemedicine innovator, Dr. Grossmann is a strong believer in the power of technology to better connect providers and patients. He is convinced that Innovation in Healthcare Technology along with the current developments in mobile and wearable platforms will exponentially improve healthcare connectivity, communication and data management, and result in a more efficient, intuitive, less expensive and ultimately better patient care.
