Sexually Transmitted Diseases ( STDs) are caused by infections that are passed from one person to another through sexual contact.
They could be caused by bacteria, parasites, yeast or viruses.
The most common STDs in India include: 
• Chlamydia
• Genital Herpes
• Gonorrhea
• HIV/AIDS
• HPV
• Syphilis
Sexually Transmitted Diseases affect both men and women. Although, there has been a concerning rise in the number of cases of STDs in women and children in India.
Some simple steps to prevent Sexually Transmitted Diseases include: 
– Know your Partners
– Limit the number of sexual partners
– Always use a condom to prevent transmission of infections.
– Avoid Risky Sexual Practices
– Immunizations
