Malaria is one of the mosquito-borne illnesses which spreads by the bite of infected mosquitoes. Malaria is treatable and preventable disease, it kills about one million people every year worldwide! The numbers raised an alarm and WHO wanted to create an awareness of the disease and hence observed one particular date to create an awareness among all!
One such date observed worldwide is WORLD MALARIA DAY, on 25th April of every year and all over the world. Every year has a theme to concentrate on!
The theme for the year 2018 is “READY TO BEAT MALARIA”! This theme denotes the collective energy and power of the global malaria community towards achieving a world free of malaria!
As an individual, here are the steps which can be taken to beat malaria –
- Sleep under an insecticide-treated bed net
- Use mosquito repellents
- See doctor without delay for fever
- Join hands in educating people about malaria recognition and prevention and treatment
We are “Ready to beat malaria”, are you?? Be a responsible citizen, offer your help to the nation and fellow citizens!!
